I'm starting a vintage Barbie collection and I just purchased my first doll but,the problem is I have no place to store him.I want to put him behind glass but what kind of cabinet would I need.How do other Barbie collectors store there dolls?
I use Ikea Detolf cabinets for my One of a Kind doll collection. They are not dust proof, but they are very reasonably priced if you you have an Ikea store in your area.
Glass cabinets are good, make sure that you are careful with the lights if you have them.
There are quite a few different bulletin boards about doll collecting that can be very helpful.
Doll Divas is one of the best, it has a mix of collectors there & they are very knowledgeable.

I found a nice pair for only $40. They look really nice. And they pretty much go with any outfit. Are they worth buying? What are your opinions on them?? Thanks!!
They're fine in the right colors, but I don't think anyone under 30 should really be wearing them. They give you a pretty mature vibe, so if you can work that, then fine, but I prefer a sleeker pair of oxfords for a younger guy or even a cool pair of wingtips.
Oh, and if you're talking about saddle shoes for golf, then they're fine for anyone. Classic.

Why tempt fate?
Fall Time weather as well as summer time can not only zap your newer computer systems but also your vintage computer as well as irrereplaceable vintage computer software as well as the time and energy spent in setup, hardware replacement and running computer systems.
Why does the summer season bring so much trouble - brownouts, sags and electric currents spikes?

Tornadoes are highly unpredictable with wind speeds reaching 300 mph, a tornado is the most destructive storm of all, ripping up utility lines and leading to lengthy, unexpected blackouts.
As well last years hurricane season was a record breaker with more than an alphabet's worth of named storms, causing the National Hurricane Center to resort to the Greek Alphabet ever. It was also the first season since 1851 to have three categories of five storms. (Katrina, Rita, Wilma).
Lightning is always the most obvious concern of most computer enthusiasts. Each lightening flash typically contains about 1 billion volts and between 10 and 20 thousand amps of current. Currents can transfer through wiring or plumbing and destroy everything in its path, of course including your irreplaceable Computer and Software Collection.
This damage is entirely possible. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAAA) reports an average of 20 million cloud to ground flashes have been detected every year since 1989.
How can you protect yourself?
First of all purchase proper surge protection and have it in place.
There are various levels of surge protection devices.
1) Power bars with a simple switch. These are the choice of most as they are readily available and inexpensive. However the switch is just that a switch not a surge protector. The appearance of an electronic device fools many into believing that they "are protected". Sadly they are not.
2) Inexpensive Surge Protection devices. This is a better step than the first. However the protection is limited by the fact that the surge protection is afforded by simple Silica sand. With time and moisture (usually no more than a year) the surge protection is highly diminished.
If you use these inexpensive Silica sand based surge protectors replace them on a yearly basis. As well note the capacity of the surge protector. It does no good to have a very inadequate surge protector.
Read the labels and descriptions on the packages.
You can not protect a large computer system with a surge protector designed for one simple computer or laptop.
3) More expensive electronic surge protection units. A wise choice. However as noted above ensure that your protection is well rated above PEAK power use not a lower power use
4) Lastly you may well consider a more expensive though very safe solution an Uninterrupted Power Supply.
An uninterruptible power supply, or UPS, (sometimes called an uninterruptible power source ') is a device which maintains a continuous supply of electric power to connected equipment by supplying power from a battery when utility power is not available. A UPS is inserted between the source of power (typically commercial utility power) and the load which is to be protected. When a power failure or abnormality occurs, the UPS will effectively switch from utility power to battery power .While they are not limited to any particular type of equipment, they are typically used to protect computers.
Remember why tempt fate when it comes to your prized vintage computer system .
Fire departments not only fight fires they are most effective in preventing fires.
Remember at the very worst you can always unplug your computer and devices to be safe . And as well remember to unplug the phone or broadband cable connection as well.

Antique collectible clocks are an investment in history. They allow you to benefit from the splendor of old world skill and the beauty associated with their work. A modern digital clock on your night stand plays the radio to wake you up. Antique clocks are furniture. They adorn your home in a special fashion. The longcase clock was actually derived from a wall hanging pendulum clock, with the case added to close in the pendulum. Since then, the longcase clock has become a form of art in itself and is highly coveted by antique collectors and clock enthusiasts. As is the case with any type of furniture, there are many things that determine its worth and appeal; especially its life, workmanship and appearance. Top quality longcase clocks from the 1700's have been known to have values of around $500,000.00.
In the past, the grandfather clock or longcase clock as it is sometimes called was everywhere. In those days, the houses had very high ceilings, so there was no problem setting it up in the living room or hallway. However, today, the ceilings are much lower. Therefore, if you are interested in buying a longcase clock, be sure to check the height of your ceiling and the measurements of your front door. You want to be able to bring it in without damage.
However, if you want a smaller collector piece, a vintage mantel clock will undoubtedly enrich your household both in elegance and value. Picture a small mantel clock that can fit on the mantel piece or shelf, adding allure to your home and increasing in worth through the years. It is the perfect family heirloom.
Mantel clocks are usually put on a shelf or on top of a fireplace, and therefore, are pretty small and lightweight. The antique mantel clock is different from the vintage wall clock, whose movements are upward set on the back board. Mantel clock movements lay on a seat board. Some old-fashioned mantel clocks, in particular, the French styles, are ornately adorned pieces. They are wound by a key and also have a swinging pendulum. The vintage French mantel clock is very elaborate, with many of them featuring little angelic figures.
In conclusion, there are many different types of vintage clocks to choose from. Any style would be a lovely addition to your home decor. However, if an actual vintage clock is out of your price range, you can always purchase a nice antique clock replica.
